If you are one of the millions of people around the world that is suffering a little bit from the current global economic meltdown, you are likely considering a new career path. This is not out of the ordinary: many people today are investigating new and better avenues to protect their income and professional futures. So if you are looking for new jobs in advertising or marketing jobs that might be opening up, what is your best plan of attack?
First, evaluate and truly specify your experiences and your chosen field of interest. You are looking for overlaps – places where your training and experiences might give you a bit of a leg up on the other candidates you will be competing with. If you have no experiences in the field you are pursuing, it makes it a bit more difficult to get started – but it is still completely in the realm of possibility.
The second thing, is to look to the industry you are targeting, and identify any specialized training, licensure, or other specifics required of the practicing professionals. Do you have to take a class, or be certified as an agent? These preliminary steps are steps you can take before beginning the application processes.
Finally, once you have the credentials to compete, you will want to gain experiences. If you are new to the field, don’t be afraid to give it away for a short period of time to get a feel for your path.
